This is what I call a "save me from myself" pipe. To my eye the fact that the grain on this pipe is nothing special serves only to amplify the sheer perfection of its lines. The way the stem tapers over its entire 3.5" length; the nigh on invisible transition from shank to bowl; the sporty yet subtle forward cant of the gently flared bowl itself. Really, somebody stop me before I break into song.
