This is what I call a "comfort pipe." The spherical bowl is a joy to hold in the hand. The powerful shank projects solidity & stability. And the stem tapers down to a very comfortable thin button. The grain on this pipe is a spot-on cross cut, revealing vivid birds's eye around fully half of the bowl. The presence of the 4 hole stinger tells us that this pipe is an early posr-war example of Kaywoodie's take on this ultra-classical shape. But of course the pipe itself tells the real story. It is absolutely the peer of any British pipe of the period.
